23rd and 24th, May 2026 Faculty Development Programme on Mundane Astrology - Organised by ICAS Secunderabad Chapter | Sponsored by Controller of examinations, ICAS
The Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS) successfully conducted a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Mundane Astrology on 23rd and 24th May 2026 at Hotel SVM Grand, Nagole, Hyderabad. The programme drew 80 participants from across ICAS chapters and was conducted by distinguished resource faculty Shri Pradeep Y Gowda, Hon. Secretary, ICAS.
Inaugural Session The FDP commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by Shri Navneet Kaushik (Hon. Working President, ICAS), Dr. Anjaneyulu (Hon. Sr. National Vice President), Shri Pradeep Y Gowda (Hon. Secretary), Shri Vishwanatha Holla (Hon. Registrar), and Shri Manish Malhotra (Hon. Dy. Controller of Examinations). The programme was initiated under a vision conveyed by Hon. National President Prof. A.B. Shukla (IAS, Retd.), to build a standardised and research-oriented faculty for Mundane Astrology teaching across all ICAS National Chapters.
Programme Highlights The FDP addressed a long-standing gap in Mundane Astrology education — connecting classical principles from texts like Brihat Samhita with modern geopolitical, environmental, and economic realities. Shri Pradeep Y Gowda presented Samhita as a living system of macrocosmic cycles applicable to contemporary analysis.
Teaching Framework The sessions followed a disciplined 4-step instructional model: 1. Concept Clarity — Establishing foundational mathematical and planetary axioms 2. Structured Deconstruction — Breaking down complex planetary configurations step by step 3. Application Bridge — Mapping classical scriptural indicators to modern national frameworks 4. Execution Templates — Standardised checklists for consistent chart validation across chapters
Key Topics Covered Annual Cycles & Solar Ingress — The 60-year Jovian (Samvatsara) cycles were explained through their historical and climatic waves, including the role of the Year Lord (Varshesha), Cabinet Distribution, and the New Delhi Ingress Chart for national forecasting. Astro-Meteorology & Rainfall Calibration — Participants were trained to classify rainfall into five categories (Samyak Vrishti, Ati-Vrishti, Anavrishti, Khanda Vrishti, and Akaala Vrishti) using classical models such as Cloud Impregnation, Meghaduara (cloud inlets), the Sapta-Nadi Framework, and Rohini Chakra-based Mandala Alignment. Geopolitical Forecasting — Faculty were equipped to interpret the twelve Bhavas (houses) through a macro-political lens — covering national governance, international policy, treasury, seismological risks, and public welfare indicators. Advanced Diagnostic Chakras — The programme placed special emphasis on the Sarvatobhadra Chakra (Trailoka Deepa), a dynamic 9×9 grid integrating Nakshatras, Zodiac signs, Tithi classes, and phonetic elements. The concept of Vedha (malefic occultation streams) was elaborated with real-world case studies including the Bhopal Gas Tragedy (1984) and the Sheikh Hasina Leadership Crisis (2024). Other grids covered included the Nakshatra Sanghatta Chakra, Simhasana Chakra, and Chhatra Chakra for sovereign risk analysis. Financial & Seismological Profiles — Market dynamics linked to planetary speeds, bullish zodiac signs, and Sthana Bala were taught alongside seismological prediction models verified against the Bhuj Earthquake (2001) and Japan 2026 models.
Acknowledgements The programme was led by Dr. Anjaneyulu and Shri Jeyaram (former HNVP), supported by National Vice Presidents Shri Rajendran and Smt. Vani Vinod, and hosted by the ICAS Secunderabad Chapter through the dedicated efforts of its faculty volunteers.
26th, April 2026 ICAS Pune Meet & Greet Session & Astrology Seminar - Hotel President, Prabhat Road, Pune
The Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS), Pune Chapter, hosted a vibrant Meet & Greet Session and Astrology Seminar on 26th April 2026. The event brought together faculty, students, and distinguished guests in an atmosphere of learning, fellowship, and intellectual exchange. Presided over by Mrs. Minal Gadgil, the seminar was attended by more than 50 students from the current batches of Jyotish, Vastu, and Hasta-Rekha, alongside the dedicated faculty and administrative team of ICAS Pune.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Harini Kulshreshtha (Admin, ICAS Pune), who greeted the dignitaries and outlined the agenda for the day. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Minal Gadgil (Chapter Chairperson, ICAS Pune) and Chief Guest Mr. Kaushal Verma (Associate National Vice President, ICAS), accompanied by a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Rahul Kulkarni (Student, Jyotish Visharad), setting a spiritual tone for the proceedings.
The academic sessions began with Mrs. Minal Gadgil’s insightful discourse on Planetary Karakatva. Through vivid examples, she guided the audience into a deeper understanding of how planetary significations shape human lives. For the Praveena batch, this session served as a foundational introduction to the intricate connections between planets and life experiences.
This was followed by Shri Kaushal Verma’s comprehensive lecture on Navamsha (D9 chart). He elaborated on the differences and interconnections between the D1 (Rashi) and D9 (Navamsha) charts, highlighting concepts such as Vargottama and planetary shifts. His presentation emphasized how these charts reveal physical, external, internal, and spiritual dimensions of a native’s life, offering students a holistic perspective on chart interpretation.
The third session was delivered by Dr. Rahul Kamat (Chairperson, ICAS Mumbai), who spoke on the profound concept of Kevala in Vedic Astrology. He explained how Kevala arises when the Subhapati (Moon sign lord) is also the Chara Atmakaraka, linking the soul’s significator with the Moon. This rare alignment signifies karmic unfolding, spiritual solitude, and unique soul agendas. Using the framework of Vimshottari Dasha, Dr. Kamat illustrated how Atmakaraka as Graha Sphuta highlights soul-related life events, enriching the audience’s understanding with practical examples.
The seminar then moved to Shri Kapoorchand Agrawal’s (Faculty ICAS Pune) presentation on Jupiter in Scorpio. He described this placement as a powerful blend of spirituality and practicality, fostering scholarship, teaching ability, and transformative influence. While generally auspicious, its results depend on planetary combinations and whether Jupiter is direct or retrograde. He noted that Jupiter in Scorpio often produces introverted, scholarly individuals inclined toward linguistics, history, mathematics, and occult sciences. This was exemplified by eminent astrologers such as Dr. B.V. Raman, V.D. Bhat, and Dr. D.Y. Patil.
The final academic session was presented by Shri Abhishek Kulshreshtha (Faculty ICAS Pune), who spoke on Understanding Weak Kundalis. He explained how weaknesses in charts arise from inauspicious births, planetary debilitation, nakshatra doshas, eclipses, and unfavourable yogas. He emphasized the importance of Panchang analysis, noting that deep-rooted doshas can overpower even strong Yogas. The session highlighted the pivotal role of Sun and Moon placements in determining success or failure in life. Remedies were suggested, focusing on strengthening these luminaries through spiritual practices, lifestyle adjustments, and gemstones.
The seminar concluded with a lively Q&A session, where students posed thought-provoking questions. Faculty and guests engaged in meaningful discussions, ensuring clarity and satisfaction for the participants.
The event closed with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Amaraja Ponkshe and Shri Vishwanath Kendurkar (Secretary, ICAS Pune). Attendees then enjoyed a sumptuous Maharashtrian lunch, which provided an opportunity for informal networking between students and faculty.
The seminar was widely regarded as a resounding success. Students expressed their appreciation for the wealth of knowledge shared and requested more such sessions in the future. The event not only deepened astrological understanding but also strengthened the bonds within the ICAS Pune community, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in astrological education.
31st, December 2023 ICAS Bengaluru - I (Rajajinagar) Chapter Convocation
The Bangalore Chapters 1 and IV of the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (Regd.) jointly organized the Convocation to distribute certificates to students successful in the Jyotisha, Nadi, Vastu and Hasta Rekha courses of ICAS on December 31, 2023 at Shukra Auditorium, Malleswaram, Bangalore.
A guest lecture by the National Vice President, ICAS, and retired Joint Director, DRDO, Mr. Thyagarajan was preceded by the lighting of the traditional lamp followed by a soulful rendering of a devotional invocation by Master Samarth.
Recipient of the Jyotisha Vishishta Seva Medal from ICAS, Mr. Thyagarajan's brilliant exposition on Jaimini astrology covered several little understood Jaimini principles covering the number of Karakas to be used, Position of Karakamsa in Rasi or Navamsa, Argalas, Identifying the Arudha and Bhava Padas, Savya and Apasavya Rasis, Samapada, Role of Naisargika Karakas, Speciality of various Lagnas used, Different methods for finding the special Lagnas and other principles. He also dealt briefly with Muhurta matters.
Earlier Mr.S. Diwakar, Treasurer, Chapter-I, Bengaluru, welcomed the gathering.
Delivering the Convocation address, Mrs.Gayatri Devi Vasudev, Editor, MoDERN ASTROLOGY and Senior National Vice President, ICAS said it was important to understand properly the definition of Jyotisha which was clearly given in the opening chapter of Brihat Parasara Hora and not mix it with practices of a divinatory nature. She stressed the importance of a code of conduct for all practicing astrologers recalling Dr. Raman's lectures in which he would always emphasize the importance of such a code. Mrs. Gayatri Devi also stressed the need to enlighten those consulting astrologers on the limitations of Muhurta in different contexts. She decried the misconception of Muhurts for Caesarean-section surgeries as being treated as destiny charts for the unborn. A Muhurta should be understood as being only for the surgical procedure to proceed smoothly and not as one creating a destiny pattern for the unborn child. Likewise, matching of charts should not be confined to Kuta agreement but should take note of the entirety of the charts before approving or disapproving a match.
Concluding her address, she expressed gratefulness to the Faculty members of the Chapters for their dedication to the cause of Jyotisha and their selfless service in taking forward the Founder Dr. Raman's vision for astrology.
The address was followed by the students of the different courses being awarded certificates by the dignitaries on the dais who included ICAS National Vice President Dr. Revathi Vee Kumar, Messes.
