About ICAS

 

What is ICAS?
Indian Council of Astrological Sciences was established in 1984 under the leadership of Dr B.V. Raman, an eminent astrologer of the century to systematise the learning of astrology in scientific temperament.
What are the objectives of ICAS?
ICAS being a global Council sets the standard for the study, research and practice of our ancient wisdom of Vedic Astro-oriented sciences. It imparts knowledge of aforesaid sciences through its Chapters and Centres located across India.
How does ICAS function?
ICAS is governed by a Central body consisting of top-notch astrologers elected by its members. The Central body governs the operations of the Council as per the bye-laws of ICAS.

What is the qualification for joining courses?
The aspirant should be 18 years of age and should have passed the minimum SSC examination. The student should take admission to respective courses in ascending order. The students should complete Praveena courses for admission to Visharada/Acharya courses of respective courses.
Whether prior knowledge of Astrology is mandatory to join ICAS courses?
For Jyotish Praveena, Vāstu Praveena and Hasta Rekha Praveen courses, prior knowledge of Astrology is not required. However, for other courses, prior knowledge of astrology will help. For admission to the Nadi course, candidates must complete Jyotish Praveena.
What is the medium of Instruction?
ICAS has approved the following languages for holding the examinations.
1. English
2. Hindi
3. Kannada
4. Telugu
5. Tamil

What is the timing of the classes?
The classes are held on weekends. Timings may vary from chapter to chapter.
Do you have online classes?
During the Covid-19 pandemic situation, from the point of safety of ICAS members, ICAS central Council has accorded the proposal to start online classes. The majority of ICAS chapters have online teaching. Please visit our Chapters page and contact your nearest Chapter for further details. Click here
What is the duration of ICAS courses?
1. Jyotish Praveena - 1 Year
2. Jyotish Visharada - 1 Year
3. Vāstu Praveena - 6 months
4. Vāstu Acharya - 6 months
5. Hasta Rekha Praveena - 6 months
6. Hasta Rekha Visharada - 6 months
7. Nādi Praveena - 6 months
8. Nādi Visharada - 6 months
9. Jyotish Bhushana [Research program] - 1 year
10. Post-Visharada [Bridge course leading to practice] - Continuous basis.

ICAS has many chapters across India. What is the difference between these chapters?
All chapters of ICAS follow the approved syllabus of ICAS. The syllabus for each course is uniform across the country. The difference between these chapters is the schedule of the new session (January/July), the courses offered and the medium of instruction. For Example- Chapters in Delhi may teach in English and Hindi Medium whereas Chapters located in Telangana may teach in English and Telugu medium. What would be the course fee?
The course fees comprise:
1. Life Membership fee - Rs. 1000/- for Indian residents and Rs.5000 for residents outside India. It is a one-time payment to become a Life member of ICAS. For more details, Click here
2. Tuition Fee - Contact the chapter offering the course. Tuition fees may vary from chapter to chapter depending on their arrangements.
3. Examinations fee - Fees prescribed for each course. Visit our page Examination and Certification for further details click here
When can I take admission to ICAS courses?
The batch for each course commences from January/July of every year. The aspirants can take admission to courses when the admission window is open for the respective semesters.
How to join ICAS courses?
For Joining ICAS courses, contact our nearest Chapters/Centres. The Chapter chairman will facilitate admission to courses. The contact details of all our Chapters/Centres are available on our chapters page. For further details Click here
Whether ICAS courses are recognised by universities?
ICAS is an independent Council of Astrological professionals. The courses offered by ICAS are aimed at professional development rather than a mere academic pursuit. Presently we are not affiliated with any University or Government organisation.

Examinations

 

When will the ICAS examinations be held?
ICAS holds examinations for its courses During June and December of every year. The office of the Controller of Examinations announces the dates of the examination. The schedule of examinations is available to candidates at least 2 months in advance. The examination shall be held across India at the stipulated time. How to apply for an examination?
The candidate appearing for the examination should apply for the examination through the ICAS Academic Portal. All students must register on the ICAS Academic Portal for appearing for examinations.
I am not tech-savvy. Can I take an offline examination at your chapter?
Yes. You have the option to take an offline examination. However, registration for examinations on the ICAS Academic Portal is mandatory for all examinations. Your chapter chairman will guide you on the format and process of examinations.
Do you have a provision for online Examinations?
Yes. We have arrangements for online examinations. You need to choose the mode of examination while applying/registering for examinations.
I have never taken an online examination and I am not familiar with online examinations. How do I go about it?
We hold online mock tests to familiarise the candidates with the ecosystem of online examinations.
I am unsuccessful in clearing the examinations. What should I do?
You may appear for a paper which you are not successful in passing in the next examination by paying Rs. 150 per paper.
When will I get my examination results?
The Schedule of declaration of examination results is fixed as per the academic calendar. The results are available on the profile page of students on the ICAS Academic Portal on the date of the examination result.
I am an ICAS member and lost my Marks sheet/ certificate whom should I approach?
A duplicate mark sheet/certificate can be issued after paying relevant fees. You may forward your request through your chapter chairman with the relevant information - Name, LM no., Roll No., Chapter, Course, Session, Copy of LM, Marksheet & Certificate.

Life Membership and Members

 

How to become a member of ICAS?
ICAS membership is open to those who wish to pursue study and research in Astrology. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can become a member of ICAS. Prerequisites:
1. Individuals should be of 18 years of age.
2. Interested in pursuing astrology or practising astrology.

What is the benefit of becoming a Life Membership of ICAS?
ICAS members will get invitations to events organised by ICAS. ICAS members can participate in the activities organised by ICAS and its affiliates. They also get access to resources on the profession of Astrology published by ICAS. It is mandatory to become an ICAS member to pursue ICAS courses.
I have a problem while applying for Life membership. Who should I contact?

I have taken ICAS membership earlier, but I am unable to trace my LM card. How to go about it?

I am an ICAS member, where do I get notice of AGM and a copy of Financials of ICAS?
The copy of the notice of AGM and copy of Financials are available in the ICAS Academic Portal. It is also made available under Member's Zone under the Resources tab on our website. The members are requested to create their profiles on the ICAS Academic Portal for sending regular communications from the ICAS team about ICAS activities.
I want to contribute/donate to ICAS. Whom should I contact?
